Fire Alarms
7:00am Sunday morning. What could possibly be better than being awoken by a fire alarm? Not the small one that hang in your own apartment, the big red bells that the fire department hangs throughout the entire building. First I got up and went to the bathroom then just went back to bed. It then occurred to me that I should probably do something, so I called the manager, just in case she was an EXTREMELY heavy sleeper or something. After I called her, I went to the door, opened it, smelled nothing and crawled back into bed. Finally after a few more minutes and hearing the neighbor above me moving around and leaving his apartment, I realized that the alarm meant we were supposed to leave the building. I blame the vicodin that I had to wake up and take at 3:00am for the majority of my stupidity, I'll take some credit for it though.
I then proceeded to pack up my most precious belongings:
Laptop
Cell phone
iPod
black bra
black underwear
gray sweater
purse (which includes the basics: wallet, keys, chapstick, etc.)
GRE study guide (okay, I didn't pack that, it just happened to be in the bag)
Now I'm at Top Pot, eating a blueberry cornmeal muffin and drinking a double tall latte. I don't understand that there are some people here that are showered, dressed, communicating with other humans, because they want to be not because their building might be burning down.
Then there's the crazy girl sitting near me that keeps talking to herself and her laptop, coaxing it into working. Now she's humming to herself.
This place is starting to fill up with people. I really want to leave. Maybe I'll go see if I can get back in to my apartment. If not, I hope everyone isn't too upset when I start calling and waking you up to try and find a warm place to set up camp.
oh, and aggie wasn't staying with me, so that's why she wasn't on my list of things i packed up, i didn't just leave her to burn.
