Last night we went to see the helio sequence play at Chop Suey. It had been over a year since the last time I saw them play. They haven't released an album since 2004, Love and Distance. This band is absolutely amazing (they are friends with the modest mouse boys). There is so much energy on stage; it's awesome. The drummer, Benjamin Weikel is an absolute pleasure to watch perform. He seems to love what he is doing more than anyone or anything in the world. For a girl raised by a Bob Dylan loving father, you can't help but be charmed by Brandon Summers' harmonica playing.

Last night's show confirmed three things for me. One, the helio sequence totally rocks. Two, people in seattle should start loosening up at shows and try moving their feet, just a wee bit. Three, it's fun to tell frat boys to shut the f* up (especially when they actually do it).

So listen up Cali! the helio sequence is coming your way next week.
01-11 Detroit Bar Costa Mesa
01-12 Casbah, The San Diego
01-13 Spaceland Los Angeles
01-14 Howie & Sons Pizza Visalia
01-15 Rickshaw Stop San Francisco

Wow, how sad is it that Visalia gets shows and Fresno doesn't!!

Anyway, go, go, go, and take your dancing shoes.

In the upper right-hand corner of the default page, click watch Fan_3 videos here.

Scroll down to "Geek Love" (not the animated version).

No matter how much you may want to turn off your computer at this point to avoid any further exposure to Fan_3, you won't be able to. As we've discussed there simply is no turning away from this train wreck...

So, scroll back to the top of the page and click on "Who is Fan_3?"

Now, let me clear my throat, because I think I may have puked just a little.

obsessive compulsive

today i noticed that every morning i play my music in the exact same order (occasionally switching things out when i get new stuff):

*the shins (which i have to make sure i get to listen to each song off the single without interruptions this means i end up playing it 3-4 times in a row)
*Nina Simone (just Feeling Good cuz that's all i have)
*bright eyes
*Belleville Rendevouz (from triplets of belleville)
*iron & wine
*postal service
*damien jurado
*broken social scene (anthems for a seventeen year-old girl)

after this it's not so set in stone, but usually goes to either oukast or dj danger mouse. (which is then often followed by travis covering britney spears hit me baby)

update:
after writing this, i completely switched the order.
